Your Foot Size Matters, and so does the shoe size: Measuring the foot size.

When the shoe fits, wear it. It won’t, however, happen if you don’t know your foot size. Your foot size matters, and so does the shoe size – because when you wear the right shoe for your foot, you will escape a few ailments that stem from wearing shoes that either too big or small for your feet. In today’s article, we explain why you should pick the correct shoe size. We also guide you on how to measure the size of your foot from wherever you are.

A fitting shoe is neither too tight nor too loose. Such a shoe provides an excellent anchorage onto which your foot supports your body seamlessly.

A tight shoe hurts the feet. Such feet are prone to ailments, like blisters, bunions and calluses. Moreover, a big-sized shoe impedes a natural walking style – you can easily tilt off the ground, fall and cause unnecessary damage to your feet and other body parts.

Diet and Exercise. The Elephant and Lion Analogy

Different shoe brands present different shoe sizes. It’s never a one-size-fits-all phenomenon. Before you purchase a new shoe, contact the footwear designers and manufacturers to measure the size of your foot. A Brannock device is the tool they use to accomplish such a duty. However, it’s not an easy device to encounter. It’s for this reason that any one of us should know to measure the size of the foot from anywhere, preferably at home or work. All you need are a pen, ruler, paper, and a flat surface. And follow the steps below.

  • With a ruler, pen, and piece of paper, place the paper flat on the ground and stand on it, ensuring that your foot is flat.
  • Using the pen, place a mark behind your heel and another in front of your longest toe. When one of your feet is larger than the other, use the longer foot to measure your size.
  • Using the ruler, measure the distance between the two markings (lines) in centimetres or inches.
  • Use the tables (Courtesy of Infinity Shoes ) below to determine the correct shoe size against your measured length of the foot. If you’re your measurement falls in between two sizes, round up.

Don’t buy sneakers that fit – they should be about a half size higher than your actual foot size. It enables the feet to ‘breathe’ well and allow proper blood flow. The feet require space to ‘swell’ during exercises, and this can only be possible if the sneaker provides room for such.
