Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not produce enough insulin to maintain normal blood sugar levels.

Causes and Risk Factors:

The causes of diabetes can vary depending on the type. Type 1 diabetes is believed to have a genetic component and may be triggered by environmental factors, such as viral infections.
